Cursor
An AI code editor with tab completion and coding agents.
Cursor is a code editor with AI built into completion, chat, and agents that can edit a repository. New customers buy it as part of The X Subscription rather than the older Cursor Pro plan.
The current public price list is Free, Plus at $8/month ($80/year), Premium at $30/month, Super at $100/month, and Ultra at $200/month. Plus covers Cursor’s own models. Premium and above can call third-party models, billed at API list price from prepaid credit. Existing subscribers can keep legacy plans, including Pro at $20/month, but those are not what a new customer is offered.
Cursor belongs in a stack when someone is writing code most days. It does not replace Git hosting or issue tracking.
Pros
- Coding agents and tab completion live in the editor
- A free tier exists for limited use
- Plus is a low published monthly price if Cursor's own models are enough
Cons
- Third-party model usage is not included in the Plus price
- Plan names changed with The X Subscription, so older “Pro at $20” write-ups describe a legacy plan
- Every paid tier still has a usage allowance
